I felt so proud to have done it all by myself.

Then I found the internet, and it's delightful spoils. With that there came a load of banners, popups, and other annoying bundles of useless advertising. That was hell, but I'll talk about it another day.

Going back to my adventures in the world of customizing, it just so happens that I had upgraded myself to my mom's old gateway sporting a version of Windows XP Professional. I downloaded themes to decorate the eternal blue that was my taskbar and window bars. I downloaded music from my favorite anime shows and pictures of my favorite characters.

It drove my parents crazy, especially my dad, when he found a whole crap load of spyware, adware, malware, and viruses chewing at my precious files.

Now I'm on my dad's (now mine) coolermaster computer, sporting Win. XP Professional and a VERY customized desktop. I now do scans on my computer every 3 days or so, to protect my beautiful wallpapers and icons.

On to topic now...

As you may notice, some people show off their desktop, displaying icons resting upon a matching background and a colored taskbar, sometimes there's an occassional USO (Unidentified Stylish Object). What are these beautiful works or art? How can I get them? How much would it cost?

The answer is....not one penny to get all of these programs and decorations!

More Soon...

Pet Sites - The Invasion

For quite awhile, pet sites capturing the minds of cute things lovers have slipped into the internet, releasing a new addiction for kids and parents alike. Many are very time consuming, and most of the sucessful players either have too much time on their hands or don't have a life at all really.

I'd have to admitt I have an account at one of these sites, and for quite awhile it was an unhealthy addiction. Luckily I could care less now. Anyways, moving on, most of these sites contain the folowing elements:

Graphics featuring "cute" pets and interesting items.

Strange names or resemblances to real life animals.

A bank and currency system.

Games.

Clubs (otherwise called Guilds)

Have you heard of Neopets.com? Don't even get me started, one of the first of many pet sites to invade the internet, causing massive amounts of children to log on. Way before they began releasing merchandise, Neopets was fun and it was kind of something tucked away in its own little corner of the internet. Now that they have commercials, merchandise, and a magazine, it's overcrowded with illiterate internet users and people who expose younger users to horrible types of pictures and words. The site has changed very much in appearance too, the new sidebar layout is confusing and they've resorted to advertisements to keep the site running at its enormous size. On top of that, it's ridiculous that you have to pay for a "premuim web pack" to get special features. Why would you pay over $20 to get some stupid pixels?

Continued - o5.20.o5

Here's a list of some good petsites:

www.powerpets.com - Pros: Fair amount of space, No annoying offsite banner ads, Entertaining Storyline, Fairly Good and Safe Messageboards & Teaches against animal abuse.
Cons: Small amount of games, expensive items, confusing and less stylish interface.

www.subeta.org - Pros: Great graphics, cute pets, fun guilds to join, customizeable user profiles, fun forums.
Cons: If you're against Gay Pride, you may not enjoy the Gay Pride avatar, but I'm all for it!

- Sugarbunii06

Immigration, good or bad?

Rant-ish...
For my first blog, sadly, it will not be so sugary sweet. I finished watching CNN Presents today, and it was about Immigration. It was killing me, having to listen to the two men complain about illegal immigrants and how it's "their" country as they put it.

Firstly, they're fighthing a losing battle, no matter how much they try to get rid of the growing amount of illegal immigrants what they say won't change the minds of the immigrants. I mean come on, the guy is walking down the street asking people "do you have a green card?" if they're hispanic! Also, he was yelling at the illegal immigrants on strike trying to get Georgia driver's licenses and saying "it's MY country! not your's!". It's not exactly his country, but more like "our" country, our as in legal citizens. But if the people are working to support themselves or their families, to better themselves and their lives, then how is it a problem? He constantly gives calls to government offices to fix these so called "problems", but they refuse his requests and don't call him back.

There was another guy, who had a Korean wife and young daugther about my age. The wife came from Korea legally, but she's frustrated with her husband for trying to take action in something they he doesn't fully understand. She said "he wasn't an immigrant, so he does't understand how hard it is to experience all of this." She's planning for a divorce. The same man is "disgusted" with all of the young, illegally smuggled children in the public schools and that they focus mostly on learning English than anything else. Well fine, that may serve as a problem for English-speaking citizens, but for immigrants its a chance to learn english which improves their chances of better jobs and good education.

There was a woman named Rosa, an illegal immigrant working for a little amount of cash everday to try and smuggle her two kids across the border and into America. She's tried twice to bring them over, but no luck in doing so. She lives alone, and she's afraid of going to jail, again. She previously had been arrested for using a fake driver's license.
I felt like crying when I heard about how her kids wanted to come home badly.

Lastly there was a family living illegally here, they pay taxes, their son is successful with a scholarship to college, and the father works for $25,000 anually as a beverages and food manager. The wife has ovarian cancer and take chemotheraphy, but she's slowly dying. Their son has a G.P.A. of 4.0 and has a scholarship to a local college. The father has been working at a restaurant for about 6 or more years. The family struggles to live here in the U.S.

This is yet another one of those confusing situations with no right answer, like pro-life or pro-choice.Sure, get mad at me for this all you want, but I'm ranting about it, and you're not going to the my mind anymore than the one of the men tried to for the immigrants.

Fact...
Illegal Immigration is a crime.
